Our Impact Goals by 2035
Our Impact Goals by 2035
At Metabolomics Africa, we believe that Africa’s future in science, health, and technology depends on the investments we make in education, research, and innovation today. By 2035, our vision is to transform the scientific landscape of the continent — ensuring that metabolomics and other -omics sciences become accessible, celebrated, and impactful across every corner of Africa.
Our goals are bold, measurable, and deeply rooted in the belief that Africa should not just participate in the global scientific conversation — we should lead it.
Reach 20,000,000+ Students with omics education
Establish 1000+ Omics Clubs in African Secondary Schools
We aim to introduce metabolomics concepts and related -omics sciences to over 20 million students across the continent by 2035. Through school-based Omics Clubs, large-scale STEM campaigns from one country to another, educational media, teacher training, and partnerships with ministries of education, we will ensure that African students — from urban centres to rural communities — gain early exposure to the science shaping the future of medicine, agriculture, and the environment.
This is not just about teaching science — it’s about sparking a generation-wide curiosity that leads to innovation, careers in research, and homegrown solutions to Africa’s biggest challenges.
We will create at least 1000+ functional Omics Clubs in schools across multiple African countries, providing learning kits, training teachers, and hosting competitions to deepen students’ knowledge and practical skills in metabolomics, genomics, proteomics, and bioinformatics. These clubs will be the continent’s first consistent grassroots platforms for -omics education.
Launch 10 Metabolomics Centers of Excellence across Africa
Forge 100+ Global Partnerships with Universities, Labs & Funders
By 2035, we will have established 10 fully equipped, world-class metabolomics research facilities in Africa, housing advanced instruments such as LC-MS and NMR. The centers will support local scientists, provide training, host collaborative projects, and ensure African research addresses African realities while contributing to global science.
We will partner with universities, research labs, industry leaders, and funding organizations worldwide to bring expertise, resources, and collaborative opportunities to Africa. Our target is to secure at least 100 strong, active partnerships that advance training, research, and access to metabolomics infrastructure.
Train 1,000 African Scientists in Omics Research and Data Science
Publish 100+ African-Led Omics Research Outputs
Through workshops, fellowships, and online training platforms, we will prepare 1,000 African scientists in advanced metabolomics and related data analysis techniques. This will create a skilled talent pool capable of leading groundbreaking research on the continent.
We will partner with universities, research labs, industry leaders, and funding organizations worldwide to bring expertise, resources, and collaborative opportunities to Africa. Our target is to secure at least 100 strong, active partnerships that advance training, research, and access to metabolomics infrastructure.
These goals are not abstract. They are a blueprint for transforming Africa’s role in science — from being a recipient of knowledge to being a generator of globally recognized discoveries. By inspiring millions of young Africans, building the labs they need, training the scientists who will lead, and creating global collaborations, we are setting the stage for a future where Africa’s scientific voice is undeniable.
