STEMxAfrica Nigeria Maiden Project
The STEMxAfrica initiative, a visionary project aiming to reach 20 million science students across all 54 African countries over the next 10 years, is officially launching its maiden edition in Nigeria on September 26th, 2025. This groundbreaking movement seeks to ignite a passion for science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) among African students by introducing them to real-world applications, global innovations, and the endless possibilities within the world of science.
The inaugural event will simultaneously take place across several Nigerian states including Oyo, Lagos, Ogun, Abuja, Benue and many more states in Nigeria, with plans to expand to more states as the project unfolds. Each state will host hundreds of students from selected local government areas, giving them hands-on exposure to STEM career paths through workshops, guest lectures, tech showcases, and the launch of STEMxClubs in their schools. This approach ensures that the project is both scalable and community-rooted, creating a strong foundation for consistent, long-term impact.
STEMxAfrica is a movement designed to build Africa’s future innovators, researchers, and problem solvers from the ground up. By starting with Nigeria, the project sets the tone for continent-wide activation. It is not just about science education, but about nation-building through knowledge. This September, we invite students, educators, volunteers, and communities to be part of this transformation as we empower the next generation to think, explore, and lead with science.
The STEMxAfrica Initiative is making its next stop in Ghana this November 2025, as part of its mission to reach 10 million science students across Africa. The Ghana activation will engage secondary school students in Greater Accra, Ashanti, and Central Regions, with powerful STEM-focused experiences including hands-on workshops, inspirational sessions, and the launch of STEMxClubs. This exciting rollout is set to inspire the next generation of Ghanaian innovators, scientists, and change-makers. We call on teachers, volunteers, students, and science enthusiasts across Ghana to anticipate the movement and join us in building a future of scientific excellence for Africa.
In January 2026, STEMxAfrica arrives in Tanzania with its bold vision to spark scientific discovery and curiosity among young African learners. The maiden Tanzanian activation will take place in Dar es Salaam, Arusha, and Dodoma, bringing STEM learning to life for hundreds of secondary school students. Through interactive sessions and the formation of STEMxClubs, this event will lay the foundation for sustainable science education in the country. We invite schools, science educators, local leaders, and all passionate Tanzanians to anticipate and participate in this transformational journey across the heart of Africa’s future.
